Extreme Q vs. Volcano

Arizer Extreme Q 4.0 Vaporizer vs. Volcano Vaporizer

The Volcano and the Extreme Q differ from each other greatly, more than you might think. Both vaporizers have a digital display and both inflate vapor balloons but the similarities pretty much end there. Can the Extreme Q hold a candle to the powerhouse Volcano? Many would not only say yes, but that the Extreme Q surpasses it in numerous ways, including price.

Heating Element and Heat Up Time

The Volcano has an aluminum construction and an aluminum heating element as well. The aluminum heating element does heat up faster, in just about two minutes, but aluminum heating elements are also said to not be the healthiest for you. The Extreme Q on the other hand has a ceramic heating element, often considered healthier for you, and also has an aluminum construction. So where as both have a sturdy aluminum construction, the Extreme Q has the healthier heating element but sacrifices a bit of heat up time. Like I said, the Volcano takes about two minutes to heat up which is one of the fastest around but the Extreme Q only takes about 3 minutes, so you really aren’t sacrificing all that much in terms of wait time.

Ease of Use and Portability

Both vaporizers are easy to use, mostly due to the digital temperature read out. But the Extreme Q has a few bells and whistles that ultimately make it easier to use. One thing you will immediately notice that the Extreme Q has that the Volcano, or any other vaporizer for that matter, doesn’t have is a remote control. The Extreme Q has buttons on the front of the vape to operate it but the addition of a remote just makes it way easier to use and that isn’t just because it enables you to be lazier. Instead of having to navigate the menu on the vape to get to certain options, you have all these options available at one push of a button on the remote. Both vaporizers show you the desired temperature you set and what temperature the vape is currently at, so there is no real difference in this area.

As far as the construction and design of both of these vaporizers they are about equal in the portability area. Both have a heavy and sturdy aluminum construction which makes moving it around a pain some times, mostly when you actually have to pack it up to take to someone’s house or where ever. Both vaporizers are pretty much the same size, but the Volcano is a little wider and weighs slightly more. The Extreme Q does have a few glass pieces that could break in transport, which the Volcano does not. So ultimately the Volcano may be a little more portable.

Vapor Quality and Final Verdict

This is a little difficult to compare. The Extreme Q has the option of vapor balloon or using a whip for direct inhalation. From both vaporizers you get a nice thick vapor but the Volcano not giving you the option to use a whip hurts it a bit, especially since you are paying so much. When comparing which gives you a better experience with a vapor balloon I would go with the Volcano, but not by much and definitely not enough to negate the fact that you can’t use a whip. In the end the Extreme Q just offers more than the Volcano, from a remote to using a vapor whip you have more at your disposal. But on the other hand if you are strictly in the market for a good balloon inflating vape the Volcano is tops.
